Artworks by Hiroshima survivors to be shown in Manchester

  • Paintings and drawings by survivors of the Hiroshima atomic bomb will be displayed in England in October, the first time the artworks are travelling outside Japan, according to media reports.

The scenes depicted in the works are often disturbing.

The United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, killing an estimated 70,000 people instantly. Thousands of other victims died later.

The 12 artworks will be part of an exhibition called the Sensory War 1914-2014, in Manchester.
