Argo wins best film award at BAFTAs

  • Argo picked up three BAFTAs on Sunday, including the top prize for best film.

    Ben Affleck was named best director for his film following the rescue of American hostages in Iran.

    Daniel Day-Lewis took home the award for best actor for his role in Lincoln, while French actress Emmanuelle Riva was named the best actress winner for Amour.

    Anne Hathaway won the best supporting actress prize for her role in Les Miserables while Christoph Waltz won best supporting actor for Django Unchained.

    James Bond flick Skyfall won the award for outstanding British film.

    Skyfall also won the award for best original music.

    Ang Lee's Life of Pi scooped two awards for cinematography and special visual effects while Disney Pixar’s Brave was named best animation.

    David O Russell took home the prize for best adapted screenplay for Silver Linings Playbook, which he also directed.

    Director Sir Alan Parker, director of The Commitments and Bugsy Malone amongst other films, was honored with a British Academy Fellowship.
