'Always On My Mind' tops music poll

  • ‘Always On My Mind’ by the Pet Shop Boys was voted as the all-time top cover version in a music vote in Britain, media reports say.

The song was written by Mark James, John Christopher, and Wayne Carson.

Johnny Cash’s 'Hurt' stood second and The Stranglers’ ‘Walk On By’ came third in the BBC Music poll.

Jimi Hendrix’s ‘All Along The Watchtower’ and Jeff Buckley’s ‘Hallelujah’ were fourth and fifth.

BBC Music’s Jeff Smith said it was “great to see” the Pet Shop Boys track resonating with people even today.
