121212: Concert for Sandy Relief Largest Music Event

  • Some of the biggest names in the music and entertainment industry came together on Wednesday night at New York City's Madison Square Gardens for the 12.12.12 Sandy Relief Concert. Alicia Keys, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Chris Martin, Dave Grohl, Eddie Vedder, Eric Clapton, Kanye West, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, The Rolling Stones, and The E Street Band came together to play in what may be the biggest event in the history of music. The proceeds will benefit the victims of Hurricane Sandy through the Robin Hood Relief Fund. The concert is estimated to have reached over 2 million households across the world. Other celebrities such as Ben Stiller, Chelsea Clinton, Susan Sarandon, and Whoopi Goldberg personally took calls at a remote call center, accepting donations for the storm victims and appeared on screen at the show. The entertainers told stories and paid tributes to the victims and their families. Over 150,000 people watched the concert live stream on YouTube and about 13,500 people attended the concert.
