Your antibacterial soap is probably not helping you
April 8 , 2014
Researchers have found that antibacterial soaps don't help people but instead alter their hormones and damage the environment. Rolf Halden argued that people don't benefit from using them since they end up using them incorrectly.
Studies indicate that people are supposed to washing their hands with such soaps for about half a minute but they do so for an average of six seconds. Researchers mentioned that chemicals may even be harmful for body hormones.
Two chemicals, namely triclosan and triclocarban are used in over 2k antibacterial products today and manufacturers still haven't proven that such products are safe to remove the chemicals. Reports suggest that the FDA has given manufacturers a year to prove the same.
