The chief executive of Yahoo has stepped down following accusations of misinformation on his résumé.
The California-based computer firm confirmed media speculation that Scott Thompson had left and been replaced by Yahoo’s global media head, Ross Levinsohn.
The company added it is also close to settling with activist shareholder Daniel Loeb, who discovered that Thompson had included a fake computer science degree as part of his qualifications.
Thompson was previously the president of online payment firm Paypal.
