Women should be hired since they cost less
April 5 , 2014
Women are still not part of all kinds of professions when compared to men. Many reasons suggesting that it would be good for companies to hire women talk about their intelligence. However, Catherine Rampell of Washington Post mentioned a far more basic one and said women cost less and could improve a company's bottom line.
Rampell notes that a pay gap still exists between women and men and there are alarmingly low number of women in executive suites. Companies are, however, taking steps to change the situation but "lip service" isn't the answer.
"As long as firms are resistant to changes that will help attract and retain female talent - like more flexible work arrangements, which can actually boost worker productivity - they will be limiting their own potential as well as that of female workers."
