Why will auto recalls keep happening

  • There appears to be a big new auto recall once every week and Derek Mead of Motherboard said it's time we all get used to it. Mead went through some factors that are making these recalls so common.

Autos are becoming more complicated due to safety requirements and several other rules so it's possible that all new features add up to all the things that could go wrong. Part sharing could also be a factor when it comes to recalls since sharing that "one" part would mean that the effects would be widespread in case it fails.

"Automakers are making better cars, but because those cars have more parts than ever - parts that are increasingly being pulled from the same bins - when one thing goes wrong, it affects a lot of people's rides," Mead said.
