Walt Disney posts 10 percent rise in revenue
May 8 , 2013
Walt Disney posted a 10 percent rise in revenue for the first quarter of 2013, beating analysts' expectations.
The increase came on the back of a boost in revenues at its sports network ESPN and the box office success of its recent movie Oz the Great and Powerful.
The company's net income was up 32 percent compared to $1.5 billion last year.
Revenue at its theme parks division increased by 14 percent.
Profits for the next quarter will include earnings from Iron Man 3, which has already made $711 million at box offices worldwide since its release last month.
