US: IBM warns Louisiana governor over 'discriminatory' religious freedom bill

  • IBM has told the Governor of Louisiana that if a religious freedom bill is made into law in the US state, it would create a “hostile environment” for employees of the technology giant.

Such a bill that “legally protects discrimination” against same-sex couples is “antithetical to our company’s values”, James Driesse, the vice-president of IBM, wrote in a letter to governor Bobby Jindal.

If the law is enacted in the current form, the company would "find it much harder to attract talent to Louisiana”, Driesse warned.
