US firm Halliburton to slash 6,400 jobs amid tumbling oil prices

  • Halliburton is slashing up to 6,400 jobs, amounting to 8% of its total workforce around the world.

    The American oilfield services company has cited a “challenging market environment” amid tumbling oil prices. The cuts will be made in all company operations, it said.

    Halliburton, the world’s second-biggest oilfield services firm said in a statement that it faced a “difficult reality”.

    Oil prices have almost halved since the middle of last year.
