US fast food workers to strike against low wages, poor healthcare
September 2 , 2014
Fast food workers in the United States are set to strike on Thursday, September 4 — their biggest strike ever — to demand an increase in minimum wages and protest poor healthcare, reports say.
The striking workers will include employees of big chains such as McDonald’s, Burger King, and Pizza Hut.
The nationwide protests are being coordinated by groups such as Fast Food Forward, which have the support of unions. Their demands, include a hike in the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
Around four million workers are employed by the US fast food industry.
