UK: After month of negative inflation, rate turns positive in May
June 17 , 2015
The UK’s inflation turned positive in May thanks to transport costs, following a month of negative inflation, media reports said.
The Consumer Prices Index measure increased from April’s -0.1% to 0.1% in May.
Transport, particularly air fares, played a major role in this, according to the Office for National Statistics. A fall in transport fares in April had made the CPI inflation negative for the first time in more than half a century.
