Toyota to move Yaris North American production to France
June 24 , 2012
Toyota is to transfer its Yaris car production for North America to France from Japan in May next year.
It marks the first time the company will export cars from Europe across the Atlantic.
The move is aimed at keeping a strong yen and soaring energy costs from hitting earnings.
Numerous Japanese automakers have shifted export production out of Japan, including rivals Nissan and Mazda, both of which plan to open factories in Mexico to serve the region.
