Total boss Christophe de Margerie killed in plane crash

  • Christophe de Margerie, the chief executive of Total, the multinational oil company of France, has been killed in a plane crash at the Vnukovo international airport in Moscow, media reports say.

    The private jet of de Margerie reportedly hit a snow plough due to poor visibility, according to Russian officials.

    The French oil firm in a statement confirmed “with deep regret and great sadness” that the Total CEO had died “following a collision with a snow removal machine.”

    Manuel Valls, France’s prime minister, said the country had lost an “extraordinary business leader.”
