Timothy Geithner and Ben Bernanke visit India

  • U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke are currently in India to increase economic ties between the two countries.

Trade between the two nations stood at $57.6 billion last year and is likely to rise after India's recent reforms to open key sectors to foreign investment.

Meanwhile, India is expected to ask for greater access to the U.S. market, especially for its technology firms.

The United States is India's biggest market for information technology exports.

India wants the U.S. to ease restrictions on its Federal contracts and allow Indian firms to bid for government business.
