Tesla Model S to get 5.4 out of 5 stars

  • Tesla Model S did exceptionally well in the government safety tests and ended up breaking the scale. The car got a 5.4 rating and did better than all the other vehicles tested by the Safety Board.

Only about 1 percent of the vehicles get a 5-star rating but this electric car did well in all categories including side impact and rollover vulnerability.

Anthony Ingram at the Monitor said "frontal impact was aided by the lack of engine block under the Tesla's 'frunk'- allowing more space for impact absorption."

A woman driving this car under the influence experienced a bad enough accident to knock it down but she remained uninjured.

Tesla Model S has also received excellent reviews from Consumer Reports. It starts at $70,000.
