Teen sues parents for college money

An 18-year-old girl in New Jersey is living with her best friend's family and has sued her parents for her private high school's as well as her future college's tuition.
Rachel Canning mentioned that she was kicked out of the residence and is not emancipated. She continues to remain financially dependent on her family. "We have a child we want home," Sean Canning said. "She's demanding that we pay her bills, but she doesn't want to live at home, and she's saying, 'I don't want to live under your rules.'"
The parents' rules include sticking to a curfew, not dating the boy they have doubts about and returning the things she took from her sisters.
Rachel's lawsuit is being supported by her friend's father who is an attorney. Court papers also reveal that Rachel has an abusive interaction with her mother. "My parents have rationalized their actions by blaming me for not following their rules," she said.
