Tech giant Microsoft reports 7% dip in profit

  • Microsoft has reported a seven percent drop in profit in the second quarter.

Its profit in the March-June period was $4.6bn compared with $4.97bn during last year’s same period, the technology giant said in a statement. The firm said its Nokia unit, which was acquired in April, lost $692m.

Microsoft recently announced culling of 18,000 jobs, the biggest job-cut in the company's history.

Chief executive Satya Nadella said the firm was “driving growth with disciplined decisions, bold innovation, and focused execution.”
