Suzuki recalls vehicles for defect
September 16 , 2013
Suzuki is recalling 193,936 vehicles including both cars and SUV's that have defected air bag sensors in their front passenger seats.
The involved models are Grand Vitara SUVs and SX4 cars from 2006-2011 and 2007-2011 years respectively.
Sensor mats, which measure the weight of the passengers sitting in the front seat are important since small children can end up getting injured by the force of the air bags.
The company said these defected sensors can stop working after being flexed repeatedly and could deploy even if its a child is sitting in the seat.
No accidents related to the defect have been reported yet and the Japanese automaker is supposed to begin notifying owners next month onwards and will fix the defect for free.
