Starbucks posts 'most remarkable' third quarter figures

  • The global quarterly sales of coffee chain Starbucks have risen by 18% to $4.9 billion in the three months to June 28 in what may be its best ever performance in terms of revenue.

Chief executive Howard Schultz said it was among the “most remarkable quarters” in its history as a public company.

Starbucks opened more than 430 stores in the quarter and like-for-like sales were up by 7%. Meanwhile, its total net profit increased by 22% to $626.7 million.
