Sriracha accidentally turned into an empire
October 28 , 2013
The CEO of Huy Fong Foods is not a ruthless genius. In fact, his plan was never to build an empire.
The goal, according to David Tran is to "make enough fresh chili sauce so that everyone who wants Huy Fong can have it." He mentioned that he doesn't care about the profit that comes from selling Sriracha, which has become an extremely popular Asian chili sauce in a span of 33 years.
Although, Tran didn't spend even a day on advertising, the business grew dramatically.
"I started the business with my eyes closed," he said. "There were no expectations at all."
Unlike most commercial hot sauce, Sriracha uses fresh peppers instead of dried ones.
