Sony hikes full year loss forecast

  • Sony is expecting much larger losses owing to the pressure faced by its mobile business.

For the complete year ending March 2015, the Japanese consumer electronics firm expects a full-year loss of $2.15bn. Sale forecasts for its smartphone unit have been trimmed.

Sony said its plans were “modified” taking into consideration the “significant change” in the mobile business “market and competitive environment.”

In recent years, in an attempt to cut losses, the company has sold parts of its business that it felt were not at the core of its operations.
