Soft drinks maker AG Barr reports rise in sales

  • AG Barr, the maker of Irn Bru and other soft drinks, has reported an increase in sales.

    Sales rose by 4.3% in the three months from February to the end of April as compared to the same period last year.

    Despite the increase, the UK-based group said it expected costs to continue to rise this year.

    In a bid to limit the impact on margins, the company said it had enforced efficiency plans to support its long term cost control.

    This includes investing in marketing across its core brands including its first television advertising campaign for the Rubicon brand, which it bought in 2008.
