Sharp rise in jobless as France's economic woes continue

  • The numbers of those looking for work sharply increased by 0.8% in France last month. The number of jobless people is up by 4.3% over the previous year, as per media reports.

Though Francois Hollande, France’s president, has repeatedly pledged more growth and jobs, the economic reality on ground has not been encouraging.

In the last few days, Hollande dissolved the cabinet and named a new one, dropping three key left-leaning ministers who were against the austerity measures introduced by the government.
