Russia's food ban: EU extends help to dairy exporters
August 29 , 2014
The European Union (EU) will be providing emergency aid to dairy producers who have been hit by Russia’s ban on EU food imports.
Earlier, the EU had announced 125m euros in aid for vegetable and fruit exporters.
The help will extend to storage costs for skimmed milk powder and butter, and certain varieties of cheese.
Holland, Finland and Germany were among the biggest dairy exporters from EU to Russia last year.
Moscow announced the food ban in retaliation to the sanctions imposed on it by western countries.
