PwC Report Says Automation May Replace 30 Per Cent of UK Workers

  • According to a report by accountancy firm PwC, over 10 million workers in the United Kingdom are on the edge of losing their jobs to artificial intelligence (AI) systems and robots over the coming 15 years. The report also found out that automation impact varies significantly across industry sectors. The highest proportion of jobs to be displaced by automation will be in transportation and storage industry, amounting to 56 per cent. The other worst affected sectors will be manufacturing (46 per cent) followed by retail trade (44 per cent). PWC report says that an estimated 2.25 million jobs are at high risk in the wholesale and retail sector, followed by manufacturing (1.2 million), administrative and support services (1.1 million), and transport and storage (950,000).
