Premier League sells TV rights for £5.14bn

  • Television rights for Premier League games have been sold for £5.14 billion, a 71% increase from last time.

    While Sky paid £4.2 billion for five TV packages, BT paid £960 million for the remaining two packages in the auction. The record deal runs for three years starting 2016.

    Sky ended up paying 83% more than what it paid three years ago; BT’s payment has increased by 18% from the 2012 TV rights auction for Premier League games.
