Pizza Express sold to Chinese company for £900m

Pizza Express was sold to a Chinese company for around £900m.
The chain has 436 Pizza Express restaurants in Britain and 68 globally, of which 22 are in China.
Richard Hodgson, chief executive of the Gondola Group which owned Pizza Express, described the sale as a “very positive development at an exciting time for the business.”
John Zhao, the chief executive of the Chinese private equity firm Hony Capital, said they would “leverage our local expertise” to consolidate the chain’s growth in Asian countries.
