Pepsi overtakes Diet Coke sales as US consumers look for healthier alternatives

Pepsi became the second highest selling carbonated drink in America after Coca-Cola in 2014, outselling Diet Coke, new data show.
Though Coca-Cola stayed at the top, it saw a 6.6% fall in its sugar-free version, reflecting a consumer trend to avoid products containing artificial sweeteners, figures by Beverage Digest show.
The sales of Diet Pepsi dropped by over 5% in 2014. However, both firms registered a slight rise in overall sales.
Health-conscious customers in the US are increasingly looking for healthier alternatives to carbonated drinks, reports say.
