Norton maker Symantec splits into two

  • Symantec, the maker of the Norton antivirus software, has said it will break its operations into two.

The American software firm will spin off operations into two firms, one focusing on security and the second on storage, it said. Both firms will be publicly traded.

The decision comes after similar moves by major technology firms - HP and Yahoo.

The breaking-up could also make Symantec more attractive to potential buyers, media reports said.
