Newsweek magazine ceases print edition, to go online-only
October 19 , 2012
Newsweek, the 80-year-old U.S. current affairs magazine, is set to become an online-only publication.
The last print edition will be released on December 31.
The decision reflects the trend for newspapers and magazines to increasingly boos their online presence as traditional advertising dwindles.
Two years ago, Newsweek merged with the Internet news group the Daily Beast.
The number of Newsweek subscribers has dropped from a peak of 3 million to 1.5 million today.
Newsweek Global, the digital only version, will be available via a subscription.
