Newark security systems missed guy crossing runways

  • The Perimeter Intrusion Detection System at Newark Airport, which costs over $300M, couldn't catch a cross-dressing man climbing over the fence and entering Terminal C after crossing two runways.

Siyah Bryant was on a date with another man and felt "uncomfortable" when their vehicle ran out of gas and his date called someone for help at 4 am. He was found inside the terminal and arrested.

Bryant wasn't the only such intruder last night. A 40-year-old man named Robert Bump, who showed signs of drug use and alcohol, hopped a fence in Phoenix and banged at a Southwest Airlines plane. Luckily for him, the plane's pilot was alerted of the intrusion so he turned off the plane's engines well in time.
