NASA captures explosion on the sun
May 9 , 2014
NASA recently captured breathtaking views of the sun and mentioned that its material, "doing what it always does, dancing and twisting - and in this case erupting off the side of the sun."
The agency's Solar Dynamics Observatory began operations only four years ago and it appears that the captured plasma activity is fairly common on our nearest star.
The SDO has the ability to take several measurements of the sun by orbiting around the Earth and USA Today reports that one of the goals of this mission is to see how the sun's magnetic field affects life on this planet.
