Mobile firm Blackberry registers $28m profit in fourth quarter

  • Blackberry registered a net profit of $28 million for the fourth quarter, exceeding estimates, compared to a $148 million loss posted last year.

However, revenues for the Canadian mobile phone company dropped from $793 million to $660 million, falling below expectations.

The firm has registered a surprise profit for the second straight quarter.

John Chen, Blackberry’s chief executive, said in a statement that the firm had a “very good handle on our margins” and its “product roadmaps” had been well received.
