Micromax overtakes Samsung, becomes India's largest smartphone seller

  • Micromax has for the first time overtaken Samsung in India as the country's largest seller of smartphones, Canalys, a market research firm, says.

While Micromax, a local brand, contributed to 22% of smartphone shipments in the country in the October to December period, Samsung’s share dropped to 20%, Canalys data showed.

Many users are upgrading to smartphones from basic handsets in what is considered as the third-biggest smartphone market of the world.
