McDonald's reports worst same-store sales in 9 years
August 9 , 2012
McDonald's has reported flat sales in July across its global established restaurants, its worst performance in more than nine years.
The figures suggest that a weakening economy has shifted mainstream diners' spending habits.
The results marked the first time since April 2003 that sales at restaurants open for at least 13 months did not increase.
Shares of the world's biggest fast food chain were down 1.6 percent at $87.56 during midday trading on Wednesday.
The stock has lost more than 14 percent of its value from a peak of $102.22 in January.
