Lufthansa union extends strike to Friday
March 19 , 2015
Lufthansa pilots who are on a two-day strike now plan to extend it to Friday. The strike, which will affect short and medium-haul flights, is expected to disrupt thousands of passengers, media reports stated. The pilots’ union believes that the strike will ramp up pressure on the airline’s management during talks on retirement benefits. The airlines, which is plagued by strikes, wants to do away with a program that permits pilots to retire at 55 and receive 60 percent of their salary until they reach the retirement age of 65.
