Lufthansa strike to start on Friday

  • Cabin staff at German airline Lufthansa are to go on strike on Friday.

The UFO workers’ union did not specify where the strikes would take place but added it would give six hours' notice.

"We do not want to give Lufthansa the opportunity to prepare for the strike by getting replacement crews ready," UFO head Nicoley Baublies said.

An impasse between the union and the airline has lasted for more than a year over pay and working conditions.

The union is looking for a pay increase of 5 percent for cabin staff for 15 months starting from January this year.

Lufthansa's latest offer was for a pay increase of around 3.5 percent.
