Lufthansa agrees to cabin crew pay increase
November 14 , 2012
Lufthansa agreed on Tuesday to raise cabin crew salaries by nearly four percent over a two-year period from January.
The move comes as part of a new deal with unions that will prevent the threat of further strikes over the holiday season.
The new agreement was negotiated under arbitration after nearly six weeks of talks that began on September 12.
Trade union UFO had insisted on a 5 percent pay hike with Lufthansa responding with a 3.5 percent rise.
The union, which represents some 18,000 cabin crew, also secured a pledge from Lufthansa that there would be no job cuts until the end of 2014.
