May 10 , 2013
Lloyds Banking Group announced on Thursday it plans to cut a further 850 jobs after shutting a large office in England.
The British bank said more than 600 jobs would be shed when an office in the city of Southend closes. The rest of the job cuts will come from its commercial and insurance operations.
Earlier this year, Lloyds said it could cut 2,750 jobs over the course of 2013.
According to labor unions, the UK's major banks have slashed more than 5,000 jobs this year.
