Lawyers discovered that teacher hid $6M
December 2 , 2013
Kathleen Magowan worked as a teacher for 35 years and lived a humble life until she died at the age of 87. She rarely renovated her house in Connecticut, which was sold for $250,000 and told her lawyers that her estate was worth $40,000 but turns out the number was off.
Reports suggest that her $6M wealth was well hidden and she donated about $5M to several organizations that meant to her.
A university donations head said you wouldn't know how wealthy Magowan really was. "She was low-key, sweet, compassionate."
