Larry Ellison steps down as Oracle head after 37 years

  • Larry Ellison has stepped down as chief executive of Oracle after leading the software giant for 37 years.

However, the 70-year-old Ellison, the world's fifth richest man, will continue to have an important say in the company in his new role as chairman and chief technology officer.

Mark Hurd and Safra Catz are the new co-chief executives of Oracle.

Michael Boskin, Oracle’s board president, said Ellison would now “focus his energy on product engineering, technology development and strategy”.
