Key talks in Brussels over Greece's debt plan

  • Eurozone finance ministers are meeting on Friday to examine a Greek proposal to extend its loan program. According to media reports, the Brussels meet is the third such attempt to arrive at an agreement over Greece’s debt.

On Thursday, however, Germany rejected a request by Greece to extend its loan program by six months. The German finance ministry described the new request by Greece’s government as “not a substantial proposal” towards a solution. The US has reportedly urged Europe’s leaders and Greece to make concessions so that a deal can be reached.
