Johnson & Johnson suspends surgical tools
May 1 , 2014
Johnson & Johnson is suspending the sales of surgical tools due to concerns that power morcellators could spread cancer in the human body. Reports suggest that these devices are used to remove fibroids and one in every 350 women could have a cancer after undergoing the surgery.
The Wall Street Journal explains that morcellators send long blades through small incisions to operate on tissue. The FDA may look into new labeling rules for the tools.
