Janet Yellen is a role model
October 11 , 2013
Jenet Yellen will be the first woman ever to be the head of a central bank in any of the big nations in the West.
Considering that barely any females have senior roles as economists and especially in central banking positions, John Cassidy in the New Yorker salutes Yellen for setting an example for his daughters and other girls.
Yellen is expected to "something of a celebrity" since she's going to continue to get public attention, which is normally not enjoyed by the average male central bankers. "And there's nothing wrong with that: She deserves the attention," Cassidy said.
Even if Yellen doesn't turn out to be a great leader, "on her first day in office, she will already be a historic one."
