Jaguar Land Rover to build two new models in China

  • British luxury car company Jaguar Land Rover has announced it is to build two of its models in China.

The plans are yet to be fully approved by the Chinese government but Jaguar Land Rover has already found a site for the plant, just north of Shanghai.

The Shanghai plant will be the company's first manufacturing plant abroad and will use Chinese parts.

The Freelander is already assembled in Pune, India with kits sent out from the UK, while the Land Rover Defender is put together in several locations, including Kenya.

The company has maintained that foreign expansion will not threaten jobs in the UK.
