ILO warns of social unrest amid rising unemployment

  • A new report by the International Labour Organization (ILO) has warned that the worldwide jobs market will keep deteriorating in the next few years and increasing income inequality together with high unemployment among the youth will spark further social unrest.

Young people will face the brunt of the economic slowdown and the aftermath of the financial crisis, the ILO says.

The organization’s director Guy Ryder said over 60 million jobs had been lost since the global crisis began in 2008.
