Hyundai and Kia appoint Peter Schreyer to group design role

  • Kia's design boss Peter Schreyer has been appointed as the new chief designer for the Hyundai Motor Group.

Schreyer, who has worked for Audi and Volkswagen, will be responsible for streamlining the design operation between the two South Korean brands.

Last month, the German was named Kia's first foreign president.

Hyundai Motor acquired Kia in 1998 during the Asian financial crisis. It has since posted sales at a faster rate than Hyundai in the United States and Europe.

Hyundai-Kia sold a total of 7.12 million vehicles last year, up 8 percent in comparison to 2011.
