Hospital billing remains expensive and notorious
December 5 , 2013
Hospital billing is extremely complicated and hospitals have the ability to demand high prices without any regulation. The billing can even differ according to where you live. For instance, a patient in California was charged $2,229 for three stitches and another one in New York was billed $3.355 for five.
The issue doesn't only involve stitches but also tablets and other supplies. A neck brace would cost you $19.99 as opposed to in a hospital, where you'd be charged $154.
Health economists claim they have to charge such prices since hospitals need to make sure they're well equipped and staffed. Those who are uninsured suffer the most due to such billing since they don't have any support from insurance companies.
